A Sacred Portal of Transformation and Creation
This Wednesday, February 26, through Thursday, February 27, the cosmos aligns for one of the most powerful nights of the year—Maha Shivaratri. It is a night dedicated to Lord Shiva, the supreme yogi, the cosmic dancer, and the infinite stillness from which all creation emerges.
As the Maha Kumbh Mela culminates in Prayagraj, Bharat (India), seekers from around the world gather in Varanasi, the city of Shiva, to remain awake in deep spiritual practice—sadhana (meditation), japa (mantra repetition), and chanting the sacred name of Shiva. It is a time of immense transformation, where the veils between dimensions are thin, and the energy of the divine flows in abundance.
A Cosmic Marriage: Maha Shivaratri & Maha Kumbh Mela
This year is particularly unique, as it marks the rare confluence of Maha Shivaratri and the Maha Kumbh Mela—a celestial event that happens once in 144 years. This union magnifies the energy of inner and outer transformation, creating a vortex for accelerated spiritual evolution. It is a gateway to dissolve the old, awaken the new, and merge with the infinite.
During this sacred night, every thought, every feeling, every action is magnified. It is as if the universe itself is listening, reflecting back the energy we emit. What we focus on will expand, so let us be mindful of our intentions, our words, and our creations.
A-U-M Namah Shivaya: The Sacred Mantra of Transformation
Shiva is not just a deity; Shiva is the cosmic principle of dissolution and renewal. Maha Shivaratri invites us to release everything we are not, so that we may become everything we truly are. The mantra A-U-M Namah Shivaya is a key to unlocking this transformation.
There are four ways to work with the mantra on this night:
- Chant it aloud – Feel the vibration filling your being.
- Whisper it softly – Let it resonate in the space between sound and silence.
- Repeat it internally – Absorb its essence within.
- Visualize the sacred letters – See AUM Namah Shivaya before you, as a living presence.
By aligning with this sacred vibration, we attune ourselves to the cosmic rhythm of Shiva, the eternal consciousness that transcends all dualities.
The Divine Portal: Specific Celestial Windows for Meditation
Sai Maa and other spiritual masters emphasize the importance of remaining awake, especially during these four powerful time windows, when celestial energies are at their peak:
- 6:29 PM – 9:34 PM
- 9:34 PM – 12:39 AM
- 12:39 AM – 3:45 AM
- 3:45 AM – 6:50 AM
These Divine Portals offer us an opportunity to sit in stillness, with the spine straight, heart open, and consciousness expanded. In these moments, the energy of the cosmos infuses our DNA, activating the newness of who we are meant to become.
Beyond Religion: A Universal Portal for Manifestation
Even if you do not follow the path of Hinduism, Maha Shivaratri is a universal opportunity to harness the energy of creation. It is a reminder that consciousness creates reality, and that our words—our very breath—hold immense power.
The ancient phrase ABRACADABRA means “I create as I speak.” This night invites us all, regardless of belief or background, to step into our highest creative potential. What will you create? What will you let go of? What new version of yourself will emerge?
Whether you chant the name of Shiva, repeat affirmations, or simply sit in stillness, this is a portal of joyous creation. It is a night to dream boldly, to manifest courageously, and to awaken to the infinite being that you truly are.
Shiva: The Eternal Dance of Creation and Dissolution
Shiva is more than a god; Shiva is the cosmic force that welcomes all aspects of existence. Shiva dances through the cycles of birth and death, light and darkness, expansion and contraction. This night, as he sits in stillness, he gifts us the power to transcend the old and embody the new.
Maha Shivaratri is not just about worshiping Shiva—it is about becoming Shiva. It is about stepping into the fullness of our being, where the masculine and feminine within us merge, where the ego dissolves into higher consciousness, and where we remember our true nature as divine creators.
As we move through this rare and powerful Maha Shivaratri, may we all embrace the sacred marriage of Shiva and Shakti within us. May we release the old, welcome the new, and dance in the eternal rhythm of creation.
Aum Namah Shivaya.
Jai Mahadev.
Let there be light, let there be love, let there be transformation.

During the first period, I will focus on these questions, “What will you create? What will you let go of? What new version of yourself will emerge?” and I will do my best to sit with the mantra during the second period.
I will choose to rest after that to keep my commitments on Thursday, but I will honor Shiva in my dreams.
